If you're unfamiliar with match-three games, it's a genre in which the player has to manipulate and match objects or tiles to make them disappear. The Candy Crush Saga gameplay features thousands of unique levels with a puzzle and objective to complete. All of these levels have one thing in common: rows and rows of colorful candy to match. Each level will have a goal you need to achieve, such as reaching a specific score within a fixed number of moves. To match the identical pieces of candy, you need to manipulate their positions so that three of them are in contact with each other. You do this by strategically choosing two adjacent candies and making them swap places. When you achieve a match of three or more, those pieces will disappear and be replaced by new ones that appear from the top of the gameboard. Every time you eliminate, or "crush" candy pieces, you'll be rewarded with a flurry of points. Sometimes, when you strategically plan or get lucky, your match will lead to a chain reaction of other matches. Those instances will bring in even more of those sweet, tasty points. When you manage to match four or more candies at once, you'll unlock a special candy capable of clearing away large sections of the board.

As you play Candy Crush Saga, you move from one level to the next -- in a linear fashion. Each board will have a configuration and objective, and some levels will include special candies with unique rules. Each time you clear a level, you'll receive a star rating from one to three based on how many points you managed to rack up. You only have so many chances to meet each board's objective, though, and if you run out of lives, you have to wait a while to regenerate more and give it another try. Candy Crush Saga is constantly expanding; new levels and game mechanics are implemented every couple of weeks, so you don't need to worry about beating the game and having no challenges left.
