Dropbox: File Storage & Cloud
Dropbox: File Storage & Cloud
Founded in 2007 as a startup by two MIT students, Dropbox has since grown to become one of the most popular file hosting platforms in existence. Between photos, videos, music files, and work documents, your phone's storage space can fill up real quick, but with the Dropbox: File Storage & Cloud app, you don't need to worry about running out of room. Instead of filling your mobile device up to the brim, you can use Dropbox to upload your files to the cloud, where you can share them freely and access them from any device. Uploading through the popular productivity app also ensures that your data is securely backed up; that way, even if you lose or break your phone, the most important stuff will be safe.
Product Features
Dropbox allows you to upload any of your files to its cloud servers by dropping them into a designated "drop folder." You can do this manually on a file-by-file basis, or you can let the app automatically sync your photos, videos, audio files, and documents. Once your files are on the cloud, they'll be accessible on any device that you use to log in to your account. You can also share your files with friends or business associates with very little effort, and it doesn't even require the other party to have a Dropbox account. The app generates a link for the file or folder, and you simply copy and share that link. Dropbox serves as a scanner as well. If you've got a receipt, document, photo, ID card, or anything else in front of you that you need to digitize, you can snap a pic and instantly turn it into a high-quality PDF through the app.
As a standard Dropbox user, you'll have access to two gigabytes (GB) of storage space, but you can upgrade to Dropbox Plus to multiply that number by one thousand(!). As an upgraded member, you'll not only have two terabytes (TB) of storage space, but you'll also have access to several additional features. For one, you'll be able to use Dropbox Passwords, which lets you store and sync your passwords across multiple devices. Dropbox Vaults is included as well, providing a separate storage area to stash and organize your most sensitive and important files. Your Dropbox Plus subscription will also allow you to roll back any of your files or folders up to 30 days using Dropbox Rewind. The increased storage space and all three of these extra features can be yours for only $9.99 a month.
If you use Dropbox for business purposes, you'll probably want to consider upgrading even further to Dropbox Professional. With this package, your storage space gets bumped up to three TB, and you're given a few more nifty features. You can protect all your professional work with a watermark, add
