TikTok
TikTok - Dance, laugh, and think.
These days, just about everyone has probably heard of TikTok. Even those who know next to nothing about the popular app have likely heard the name thrown around here and there. Since first launching in 2016, the video-based social networking platform has enjoyed a meteoric rise. As of 2022, the social app boasts more than a billion(!) active monthly users. Not too shabby.
Many of those users are teens and young adults, who are drawn to the engaging, rapid-fire content delivery like moths to a flame. The app, developed by the Chinese company ByteDance, has filled the gap left by the discontinued platform Vine as the go-to hub for short-form comedy, dance, and prank videos. During its incredible ongoing run, TikTok has been used frequently by celebrities and influencers, and the app even secured a partnership with the National Football League!
Product Features
TikTok's primary and most famous feature is the ability to create and share videos, which can be up to three minutes long. Typically, though, these aren't just your average run-of-the-mill videos. Users have the power to alter their content in all kinds of ways, whether it be adding music or text, enhancing it with a filter, or even changing the speed for a slow-mo or sped-up video.
Once they've perfected their clip, they get to upload their creation and share it with other TikTok users—if it's unique and connects with enough people, it may even start trending or go viral. Users also have access to the "For You" section of the app, where they'll see a selection of clips that TikTok has chosen for them based on their activity. Everything they've liked, viewed, and searched for will factor into what type of content they're shown on this page.
Another cool feature is "React" mode; this unique setting lets users film their reactions to someone else's TikTok content and
